I Took A Break

I took a break from the internet. Almost a year. It's been a long year with challenges. Not as challenging as a few years back. However, there were some new approaches I used making each situation seem not as hard.

I am sorry to those who actually read this blog. To those I support on here, my apologies for not contacting you. I have not forgotten you. As you can see, your sites and names are still posted here with warmth and comfort they deserve. :)

Finding myself a bit mentally frustrated, I've been unable to write well for a while now. I started writing a lot a few years ago. As I decided to share some of my writing to the world, I was told and/or instructed by others/places to write a specific way. I was told, it was the Only way the public would notice some of the things I write. I began to notice, I couldn't recognize the "me" in what I wrote. It was no longer personalized, but "politically correct" or "publishable" by the eyes of companies and people I sought approval from.

I then grew angry that others would take what I wrote (or my ideas) and regurgitate it into their own. While yes, maybe some wrote it better than I did, there were some who truly tore it up. Instead of getting constructive criticism, I got empty air. I thought I was unable to produce something with merit and worth reading by others.

I then began what I called "writing generically". It's no ones fault for this. I through my stuff out there with hope of being noticed. So, there is not one person or place I could blame. I blame myself for not having enough faith in what I've written and published in the past. I blamed myself enough now.

I'm over it! lol I am going to start writing again someday:) I don't know when, but I assure you, when the time comes, you'll see improvement!

For now, if anyone would like me to post something for them, I'd be honored to share your work with others and pass along viewers to your sites!

Anger, fear, regret
Negativity

Yellow shines with
Happiness, faith, encouragement
Positivism

Green boxes
Connection with land
Respecting what we are given

Miniscule Black boxes
Looking beyond with dreams and goals
The unknown and what is yet to come

Life will grow
All around us
We create those boxes

Can the heart contain
A label itself?
Aim in not compartmentalizing

Ok, I've been told my short story is TOO short..so, I've gotta tie in something to make it longer-Here is the Intro of a woman in to the story...Check it out..and let me know:) I'm still not able to get internet yet-so,I'm in a cafe temp. Miss you all.....

Wearing a sun dress, she walked down the stairs toward Bethesda. The folds of white and yellow cascading around her hips and legs like a gentle tide dancing along the sand bank. A look of bewilderment on her face, she almost missed the last step, but caught herself gracefully. Carter smiled to himself. He’d never seen her before. ‘She must be a tourist.’ he thought. Just like many tourists, she pulled out a camera and began to snap shots.
She walked all around the fountain. Fixated for some time on the detail in stone, she then turned sideways. Her eyebrows raised when she saw a man (Carter) leaned back against a tree. His pen in hand, scribbling. ‘Odd,’ she thought. He’s not even looking at the page. He was looking in the direction of some canoe’s on the river. She took a picture of him, imagining how it would look in Black and White. The man looked up at her. ‘Busted,’ she thought as her face turned several shades of pink and red like wild rouge used in the 80’s.
He began to gather his things. Carter got up and walked over to a concession stand. He bought two bottles of water, walked over to the woman and handed her one without a word. He was entranced by her. She uttered a thank you and began to apologize when he put his finger to her lips. She backed up a little, unsure and startled. He stuck out his hand and finally spoke,” Hello, I’m Carter.” His face was flushed.

“H H Hello. My name is (insert character name).” she said in a whisper that sent chills through Carter like the first winter wind…

Love is a dream

Love is a dream-few wake up from.

Love is a dream-a fantasy-some might say: a state of mind.... What is love? Feeling? Emotion? Is it that feeling when you hold an infant covered with remains of placenta-and kiss him/her on the forehead ? Is it the pang in ones chest cavity when their emotional -feeling hurt?

I question more when that all goes away. What about those who hold their newborn and feel nothing? Or those, who hide behind the bottle or needles ?

Numbness continues. You can try to run and hide, but it comes around and hits you stronger than anything you could ever imagine.

Love is a dream? A fantasy? A state of mind?

I don't think so! It is very real. We learn to control it, block it, handle it with care and attention...

I like being awake. I like seeing if Love truly exists in Reality. I see what 'looks' /'appears' like love....

You just never know! Love comes in many forms,words, movements, gestures, and even in what's not said....

Sometimes, it's enough. For many, it is never enough-and they remain..in the dream-the fantasy-that state of mind.

Swimming through the course of time
Air tank runs low
I, in the deep cold waters
Struggle for air

Missing Children: Awareness

Ok, In less than 12 hours, I have heard of 3 children being abducted/going missing , just in my state alone!!! They weren't kidding when they say "A child goes missing every 40 seconds"

I look at my little ones and think " Have I really taught them about safety? Will they understand when something wrong is happening to them?" My being unsettled on any answers, drives me to want to do more. I'm determined to come up with some methods that keep my kids aware and alert.

I know in many places around America-a child could run a mile on a dirt road and parents feel safe because no body is around..In small towns, kids play ball in the street and mom's in the kitchen cooking or watching tv. Let's be real here-many lazy parents out there.. In small communities, people tend to believe there's always going to be that one nosy neighbor watching out their window. Sorry all!! It's not something you should rely on!

My kids are right outside my huge doors-made of glass-so I can see them. Guess what? I go to the restroom real quick, come back and one is behind the building while the other one is heading toward the road! All it takes is a second! Although I live in a place that's small, I still keep an eye on my children-no, a HAWKS EYE with an eye in the back of my head too! Why? Because anything could happen!!!

I've lived in 3 huge cities with my kids as well. Including NYC. My first experience was just 10min after I got off the bus with them. One of the kids let go of my hand and was further down on an escalator-he walked down and got off...(BIG THANK YOU TO NYC POLICE DEPT) Thank GOD a police man happen to be right there! He took my son's hand and brought him up. He looked at me so sternly and said I need to KEEP my kids next to me at all times! He said someone WILL snatch my child in a heartbeat. I was upset obviously and almost in tears. I looked at him and said-Thank You! I definitely will keep them close to me. I wish there were more cops like you around.

One man with a big heart, with kindness and understanding -he noticed, I was pregnant-with 2kids (toddlers) plus luggage..and struggling with it all. He used that opportunity to kick my brain in gear. I forgot about being tired from a 2 day trip and many bus transfers. I almost hugged the guy and at the same time almost in tears! hehehe

For those who believe your kids are 'safe': I'm saying WAKE UP!!! Open your eyes and actually WATCH your kids! STOP BEING LAZY!!! GET OFF YOUR BUTT!!!!! I don't know how many of you watch the news or read 'serious' stuff online-but here, in my blogs-I'm telling you now...EDUCATE YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT SAFETY - WATCH YOUR KIDS 24/7 -DON'T TRUST PEOPLE SO EASILY- DON'T RELY ON THE NEIGHBORS/FAMILY/FRIENDS TO DO THE WATCHING FOR YOU-CHOOSE WISELY, EACH DECISION CONCERNING YOUR CHILDREN--RESEARCH--ASK QUESTIONS

I could go on for HOURS, but instead: I'll leave you with some links and how to make an ID kit for your kids.

ASK LOCAL FIRE/POLICE DEPT FOR A DNA KIT- This is actually a long q-tip you rub on your child's gums. Put in cup (untouched) to dry 30min. Then, place in envelope provided and TAPE it closed -DO not lick it..It screws up the dna on the q-tip. Put in your Freezer for safe keeping.

ID KITS-You can order these or have them made FREE anywhere. But, what I do is: take a few recent photos of my kids and write on the back-AGE LOCATION DOB and PHONE # ( my number and my emergency contact #) Why? Because if someone hurt me and took my kids-then, whoever finds me, will be able to contact someone else and know that I have kids missing possibly! I keep one in my purse-but in a busy atmosphere, I actually keep one in my pocket as well.

I'm Takin' the day off!

This poem is about someone who is never late for work. They're like OCD with 'time'.. However, in a time like that, which is rare, the person has an option. Go to work distracted and distracting others over your morning, being frustrated and even angry, risking a blow up at work, etc. Now, I know plenty of people who could have a morning like this and you'd never know it! They are quiet individuals and either know how to compose themselves well, or really have got the whole-"leave personal at the door" rule down.

NAH! Everyone brings a little personal to work. It's inevitable and bound to happen eventually.

Someone said, "Be careful what you wish for."

No whisper of, "It will happen, and you cannot change the thoughts and words."

Another said,"Go ahead, sign the dotted line."

No one ever said, "You'll be stripped of your rights."

A friend said, "Try it! It's the next best thing."

Imagine families separated. Millions standing in constant moving lines. Stepping over bodies, bones, and blood. Their own flesh, thin, weathered, scarred , broken and bruised. Famished , so hungry they’d devour their own excrement. Like robots, they do what they are told. Until one day, they finally understand they can fight for life. They are killed. Then, the over takers are killed by the overseer.

This is not an exaggerated story. There are lands being take over. Genocide! In my poem, I’ve left it up to the reader’s interpretation in the ending. Why? The overseer could be God ridding the land of all mankind. OR, could be a dictator seeing the job he wanted, finished. Then, he kills those that did the killing, so he can start anew. Again, Left to imagination.

Nobody Listened

A cry in the night no one ever heard.
Whimsical living all around like a cyclone.
Her sobbing continues, and nearby ears remain deaf.
Rushing in and out, all can be heard by her.
Not one knock, no a single shout out.
Until one night, everything stopped.
The air so crisp, and silence seemed blissful.
She yelped one last time, with one last breath.

A cry in the night someone heard.
Many rushed to aid, and were too late.
No one knew her name, or from where she came.
A broken window in the back, and she,left blue and black.
They, stood ashamed and knew, they were too late.
They had heard her cry one night.
All rushing out, listened with a quick ear to her sob.
Rolling their eyes, they had jumped into the cyclone.

Their cries in the night were not heard.
Each one came from inside, their hearts bled.
All learned, that listening was not enough.
They could have knocked or called out to her.
Any of them could have helped.
Instead, nobody listened and not one had cared.

BASAL CELL CARCINOMA

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of cancer, with about a million new cases estimated in the U.S. each year. Basal cells line the deepest layer of the epidermis. Basal cell carcinomas are malignant growths--tumors--that arise in this layer.
Basal cell carcinoma can usually be diagnosed with a simple biopsy and is fairly easy to treat when detected early. However, 5 to 10 percent of BCCs can be resistant to treatment or locally aggressive, damaging the skin around them, and sometimes invading bone and cartilage. When not treated quickly, they can be difficult to eliminate. Fortunately, however, this is a cancer that has an extremely low rate of metastasis, and although it can result in scars and disfigurement, it is not usually life threatening.

Cause

The sun is responsible for over 90 percent of all skin cancers, including BCCs, which occur most frequently on the sun-exposed areas of the body: face, ears, neck, scalp, shoulders and back.

Time Spent OutdoorsPeople who work outdoors — construction workers, groundskeepers, lifeguards, etc. – are at greater risk than people who work indoors, as are those who spend their leisure hours in the sun.
Skin TypeFair-skinned individuals who sunburn easily and tan minimally or not at all have a higher incidence of skin cancer than dark-skinned individuals. Check our skin type chart to see how at risk you are.
Hours of sunlightThe more hours of sunlight in the day, the greater the incidence of skin cancer. For example, there are more cases in Arizona, Texas and Florida – states that are closer to the equator and get more sun – than in the more northern states of Maine, Oregon and Washington.

Warning Signs
The five most typical characteristics of basal cell carcinoma are shown in the pictures below. Frequently, two or more features are present in one tumor. In addition, BCC sometimes resembles noncancerous skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema. Only a trained physician can decide for sure. If you observe any of the warning signs or some other change in your skin, consult your physician immediately.

Rainbows are optical and meteorological phenomena that cause a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the Sun shines onto droplets of moisture in the Earth's atmosphere. They take the form of a multicoloured arc, with red on the outer part of the arch and violet on the inner section of the arch. More rarely, a secondary rainbow is seen, which is a second, fainter arc, outside the primary arc, with colours in the opposite order, that is, with violet on the outside and red on the inside.

A rainbow spans a continuous spectrum of colours. Traditionally, however, the sequence of colours is quantised. The most commonly cited and remembered sequence, in English, is Newton's sevenfold red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. "Roy G. Biv" and "Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain" are popular mnemonics.
Though rainbows are bow-shaped in most cases, there are also phenomena of rainbow-coloured strips in the sky: in the shape of stripes, circles or even flames. (See circumhorizontal arc.)

VISIBILITY
Rainbows can be observed whenever there are water drops in the air and sunlight shining from behind a person at a low altitude or angle (on the ground). The most spectacular rainbow displays happen when half of the sky is still dark with draining clouds and the observer is at a spot with clear sky in the direction of the Sun. The result is a luminous rainbow that contrasts with the darkened background.
The rainbow effect is also commonly seen near waterfalls or fountains. Rainbow fringes can sometimes be seen at the edges of backlit clouds[1] and as vertical bands in distant rain or virga. The effect can also be artificially created by dispersing water droplets into the air during a sunny day. Rarely, a moonbow, lunar rainbow or night-time rainbow, can be seen on strongly moonlit nights. As human visual perception for colour is poor in low light, moonbows are often perceived to be white.[1]
You can create your own rainbow by facing 180 degrees from the sun and spraying mist from a garden hose in front of you in a circular motion, outlining a 360 degree "rainbow".
It is difficult to photograph the complete arc of a rainbow, as this would require an angle of view of 84°. For a 35 mm camera, a lens with a focal length of 19 mm or less would be required, whilst most photographers are only likely to have a 28 mm wide-angle lens. From an aeroplane, one has the opportunity to see the whole circle of the rainbow, with the plane's shadow in the centre. This phenomenon can be confused with the glory, but a glory is usually much smaller, covering only 5°–20°.
